In June 1964, eight ANC members were found guilty of terrorism, sabotage, planning and executing guerilla warfare, and working towards an armed invasion of the country. The Baltic Way was part of the larger struggle known as the ‘Singing Revolution’, a group of protests between 1987 and 1990, which helped regain independence for the Baltic states in August 1991.
