Mouse urine found on pick and mix sweets at Small Heath Asian shop

Left: Gulum Naz of Small Heath.

Stories of filthy Asian restaurants are coming out every week. It is high time the white British boycott these dirty places once and for all.

Even worse, this shop in Small Heath is selling sweets to kids that have mice faces and urine on them. Its time we boycotted all Asian shops on the grounds of hygiene standards. They do not deserve your custom.

The Birmingham Mail reports THE owner of a Birmingham convenience store has been fined thousands of pounds after admitting his business was so infested with mice that faeces and urine could be clearly seen amongst the sweets in a pick and mix stand.

Ghulam Naz, aged 50, was fined a total of £5,000 and ordered to pay £900 prosecution costs when he appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court.

He pleaded guilty to three food hygiene offences – two relating to the insanitary condition of Save On Mini Market, 302-304 Green Lane, Small Heath, where mouse droppings were found throughout the premises and one offence of mouse droppings being found in boxes containing ready-to-eat sweets at the store.

Emma Hall, prosecuting, said environmental health officers from Birmingham City Council discovered the problem in a routine inspection on August 18, 2009.

“Officers could clearly see evidence of rodent activity on the premises, including sticky boards being used to trap mice and rodenticide powder on the floor,” she said.

“Paper bags had been used to line sweet shelves, and officers could clearly see faeces and urine staining the bags. Officers also found gnawed sweet packets and faeces in boxes of pick and mix sweets.”

She said when questioned, Naz admitted that he was aware of an infestation after finding gnawed packets of crisps, and had called in a friend to treat the problem.

Wykeham Garsia, defending, said Naz, of Mansel Road, Small Heath, had voluntarily closed the shop as soon as officers discovered there was a problem.

“It was ignorance more than anything else, he hadn’t had the appropriate training to deal with the problem,” he added. “He has since hired pest controllers and there is no longer a problem.”

Coun Neil Eustace, chairman of the city council’s Public Protection Committee, said: “I think most parents would be horrified to think that their children could be scooping mice faeces into their bags of pick and mix.

“They should however be reassured that we take swift action in cases such as these, where children could be exposed to serious health risks like salmonella and listeria”. Article

That's really gross. Did they have mouse traps set up? I would hope so. I recently found one from Victor that's called a Kill & Seal mouse trap that's hygienic, it gets rid of parasites and everything. http://www.victorpest.com/store/rodent-control/m265#desc
